About Future Mode of Operations:

FMO is a term used widely in the outsourcing scene,
where a company goes from a Present Mode of Operation (PMO) to the outsourced situation (FMO).

The period between the PMO and FMO is called Transition Period.
This act will always be in the Transition Period, developing new styles of electronic music.
The name Future Mode of Operations stands for ongoing explorations, inevitable…

To create the right platform for launching FMO>> and other related artists,
somewhere in 2006 the SHEM record label was founded.
SHEM stands for South Holland Electronic Music.
It's a save haven for all experimental electronic artists,
not wanting to be caught in the web called mainstream.

Future Mode of Operations was founded when Coach Bertels (aka BA)
got inspired by the electronic sounds of artists like:
Scanner, Boards of Canada and Plastikman.
Living in Oegstgeest, the Coach got himself a drummachine
at the Lange voort shopping centre and went for it.
Since that day futuristic sounds are
heard frequently in the neighbourhood.
The music of Future Mode of Operations
can be called: Minimal electronic.
On the edge of boring, that's interesting.

News:

Mid 2009, both FMO>> and Carbon 14 agreed on working together again on the new project "Themetracks 2009/2010".

Even the release party was already scheduled for February 2010, unfortunately difficult circumstances killed the project.

Geluidskaart Leiden (2007)
FMO>>'s anwser to a City Map making contest...
The contest is simply: make a map of the city Leiden in a way you think is best.
Feel free to use whatever is needed but keep the actual size to 50 x 50 cm...
Right, since all the inspiration goodies point in 2D mapping directions, Coach Bertels thinks differently ;-)
He selected the ten places in the city he likes best and made tracks about them.
Lyrics were Spoken by Lies van der Meer and a keyboard was abused by Carbon 14...
What a team!!
Check out "Stationplein", "Rapenburg" and "Poorten" on the FMO>> Myspace!

One of the latest projects is called "Industrial Ruins"
and was recorded for a great part in Amsterdam
where Catherine Cuellar, from Dallas Texas, added a magnificant vocal contribution.
"Crowds" is a fine example, check the FMO>> Myspace!

Working on:

"Themetracks 2009/2010 "
In cooperation with Carbon 14, a sequel on the themetracks project will emerge February 2010 .
The latest album with C14 & FMO>> was Paradigm.

Status: Cancelled.

December 2009

"Faces" is the name of the new FMO>> project for the last quarter of 2009
It is about faces of people, methods and even the world.
What's the difference between "at first site" and "experience" with a face?
Recording started Q4 08 and continued till Q2 2009

Finaly a plain and simple FMO>> logo!
Easy to spot
Easy to remember
The >> signs stand for ongoing explorations of electronic music:

Pravda, introducing Jannov Werdevsky

21 Jan 2007, 18:13

Pravda is the newest FMO>> album!
Created in association with Jannov Werdevsky,
who came across Coach Bertels his path by a miracle.
During a bad storm,
Jannov drifted off and ended up near Coach Bertels his Cube.
He was desperate since he had no place to sleep, no food and vodka.
Therefore he started singing old and sad Russian songs,
and that's where it al started.
He was offered a warm shelter for the night,
with Russian spinach-pizza and vodka.
Jannov was so happy that he sung,
danced and misbehaved all night.
This didn't matter to Coach Bertels,
because he had fantastic new material to work with
for a new Future Mode of Operations album:
Pravda!

Projects:

Future Mode of Operations is always on the lookout for
more cool sounds and effects to turn in to catchy music.
Coach Bertels and his Valerie are all ears,
listening to youre evrey move, recording it.
Sounds you may take for granted,
like a bus driving by,
or a kid dragging his parents along.....
It's all there, on the streets.

Some work of this project has landed in "Geluidskaart Leiden"

From the archives:

2007

A new project is started in cooperation with Catherine.
She is currently blowing live in some lyrics,
written by Coach Bertels some years ago.
A meeting in Amsterdam (februari 2007) should give enough insight
to define further steps, since the two artists are
seperated by the pacific ocean at the moment.

Speaking of streets,
that is one of the projects FMO is working on.
The idea is to take recordings on the same route from point A to B,
at different times of the day, week and month.
What are the differences?
Rush hour
Weather conditions
A calm sunday perhaps
Unexpected events may occur......
Exciting!!

Theme Tracks 2007
Last year FMO did a great job in cooperation with Carbon 14,
by creating a Theme Track 2006 album together.
Known under the final name; Paradigm.
This year we intended to do the same.
But several reasons made the process stop :(
